PATRICK CASSIDY
COMPOSER
Patrick Cassidy is Ireland’s most renowned living classical composer. In addition to classical music he also writes film scores.

Patrick is best known for the aria ‘Vide Cor Meum’ originally composed for the film ‘Hannibal’, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Anthony Hopkins. The libretto for this aria was taken from Dante’s first sonnet in ‘La Vita Nuova’. Cassidy has now written a full Opera titled ‘Dante’, which includes this aria. It will premiere at Theater Hof in Germany on 15 June 2024.

Cassidy’s score for the film ‘Calvary’ was an ASCAP Film Score of the Year nominee. His newest classical work ‘The Mass’, was recorded by ‘The London Symphony Orchestra and ‘London Voices’ and was released in 2019. ‘The Mass for Choir & Organ’ was recorded at ‘First Congregation Church Los Angeles’ which houses the world’s largest Church Organ.

Other works of Patrick's recorded by ‘The London Symphony Orchestra include ‘The Children of Lir’, and and ‘Deirdre of the Sorrows’.

‘Famine’ Remembrance’ was premiered at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.

The album ‘Immortal Memory’ was a collaboration with Lisa Gerrard’, the voice of the film ‘Gladiator’.
Cassidy wrote the song ‘Mise Éire’, sung by his cousin ‘Sibéal’, for the official Irish government commemorations of the 1916 Rising. His piece ‘Proclamation’ was performed on a Stradivarius violin by ‘Patricia Treacy’ at the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Cassidy is a knight of Italy, conferred by the President of Italy, and bestowed with the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (knight of the Order of the Star of Italy). This recognition by the Italian state of Patrick’s work, including ‘Vide Cor Meum’ and his new opera ‘Dante’ is indeed a career high point.
